Mr. Sasikanth Senthil
Ex-IAS officer
Mr. S. Sasikanth Senthil Ex-IAS, M.P of Thiruvallur Constituency, Tamil Nadu. Formerly Deputy Commissioner, South Canara, Karnataka and a UPSC Topper 9th Rank, 2009 Batch IAS, Karnataka Cadre. His father, Justice P. Shanmugam is a retired District Judge and his mother Mrs.Ambica Shanmugam is a retired Central Government0fficer. Mr. Sasikanth Senthil graduated in Bachelor of Engineering degree in electronics from the Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. He worked in a Software Company called Polaris Inc. and later, he quit his job to pursue IAS Career.
From 2009 through 2012, he served as Assistant Commissioner in Bellary district. He served for two terms as Chief Executive Officer of Shimoga Zilla Panchayat. He served as the Deputy Commissioner of the Chitradurga District and later at Raichur District. Mr. S Sasikanth Senthil IAS was appointed as the Director in the Department of Mines and Geology, Govt. of Karnataka. Later he was appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of South Canara District. Mr. S. Sasikanth Senthil IAS was renowned for managing communal conflicts and controlling the sand mafia in the South Canara district, where he worked as a Deputy Commissioner. Mr. S Sasikanth Senthil IAS earned a name for being an upright officer and a responsible government official during his years as a civil servant in the South Canara (Dakshina Kannada) district, and was lauded by his peers for his administrational fairness.
His administration had succeeded in cutting the funds provided to Religious extremism organizations and this was accomplished by limiting the district's Illegal sand mining and since the two are connected together. His management had discussions with members of various religious communities. There were 42 cases and 6 instances of communal violences at South Canara in 2017, as per the statistics. It fell to 3 cases and 3 instances in 2018.
Mr. Sasikanth Senthil IAS with his own funds from his salary built a library in his native village in TamilNadu and helped many poor students in his native village to get education. Mr. Sasikanth Senthil IAS says, “I have been an activist trying to be a voice for the poor, less privileged and most marginalised in the society all through my life, wherever I was and would continue the same". He recently resigned from civil services to empower the most marginalised sections of society by raising a cadre of Value Based Civil Servants, who will carry out his mission and vision. He is a renowned UPSC faculty mentoring and training aspirants for Civil Services Examination. He taught Governance, Essay, Ethics and Psychology Optional Subject at Capstone QLeap IAS Academy at Bhubaneswar. Currently he is the M.P of Thiruvallur Constituency, Tamil Nadu.
